Can symptoms be a blessing in disguise?!
Symptoms are not the enemy.
There’s nothing worse than feeling a migraine coming on. Or getting a stomach ache at the most inconvenient time. Or having muscle pain that keeps you from enjoying life to the fullest. It’s easy to pop a pill to try and avoid the suffering that accompanies your symptoms.
But what if these medications are only exacerbating your health woes? By covering up symptoms, sometimes they get even more intense. Why in the world would they do this? They’re trying to get your attention! If you quiet them with medications, they may scream a little louder to let you know something is not quite right.

Most people think it’s a sign to just take more medication, because they think it’s not working anymore. But the wise few understand it means they need to pay closer attention to what they’re feeling, not try to drown out the clues with pharmaceuticals.
And as you may know, medications can lead to other issues. Prolonged use of NSAID’s can lead to gastrointestinal bleeding. PPI’s can lead to micronutrient deficiencies. Statins can cause muscle and mitochondrial damage.
What if we could find a new way to approach our symptoms? To sit with them, pay attention to them, and find out why they have shown up? There’s usually a message waiting to be uncovered. If you think about it, symptoms are the only way our body can communicate with us.
It’s easy to get angry with your body for not cooperating and bringing you discomfort. But you can think of symptoms as a starting point to finding imbalances and stressors in your body, so you can finally start the healing process.
